Mālik ibn Mighwal and Seclusion

52 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, he said: Salama ibn Shabīb narrated to me, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Rawḥ, from Shuʿayb ibn Ḥarb, he said: "I visited Mālik ibn Mighwal in Kufa while he was sitting alone in his house, so I said to him: 'Do you not feel lonely in this house by yourself?' He replied: 'I did not think that anyone could feel lonely with Allah, Mighty and Majestic.' Ibn Abī Rawḥ said: Al-Sarī ibn Yaḥyā said: 'I found comfort after having been accustomed to feeling lonely.'" (1)
