From the Miracles of the Allies of God

76 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: And Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Jarawī narrated to me: Ayyūb ibn Suwayd narrated to us: Abū al-Haytham narrated to us, on the authority of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr al-Laythī, who said: I was with my father on a journey, and we traversed a desert. When we reached the middle of it, lo, a man was standing in prayer. My father waited for him to finish praying and turn to him, but he did not do so. So he said: "O fellow! We see you in this place, and we see no food or drink with you, and we wanted to leave some food and drink behind for you." He said: So he gestured to us: "No." He said: By God, we did not leave until a cloud formed and rained until it quenched his thirst and the area around him. He said: So we departed, and when we reached the beginning of inhabited land, my father mentioned him to them, and they recognized him, saying: "That is so-and-so; he is never in a land except that they are given rain."
