regarding it: He rose over, He is high, He is elevated, He ascended, such-and-such ascends to Him, it goes up to Him, it descends from Him, He is high above such-and-such, He is the Exalter of ranks, hands are raised to Him, and He sits on His Footstool." 22- Al-Dhahabī (d. 748 AH).

He authenticated the report of ʿUmar, may God be pleased with him: "When the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, sits on the Footstool" in his book Al-ʿArsh (2/121), and commented on it as previously mentioned, and his statement will likewise come when referencing the hadith of ʿUmar, may God be pleased with him.

23- Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Muḥibb (d. 789 AH), may Allah have mercy on him, titled a chapter in his large book Al-Ṣifāt (1/90 q): (Chapter on Sitting).

24- Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ḥasan b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb (d. 1285 AH)

may Allah have mercy on them, in his commentary Fatḥ al-Majīd (p. 498) (Chapter on whoever denies anything of the Names and Attributes), for he cited as evidence in his commentary the hadith of ʿUmar, may God be pleased with him:

"When the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, sits on the Footstool."

25- Shaykh Sulaymān b. Saḥmān (d. 1349 AH), may Allah have mercy on him.

He said in Al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Shāriq fī Radd Shubuhāt al-Mādhiq al-Māriq (p. 180):

The Iraqi atheist said: "(And among the strange things about him [meaning: Shaykh al-Islām Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, may Allah have mercy on him] is that he misleads the people with the claim of Monotheism (Tawhid) of God and declaring Him transcendent, saying: 'Seeking intercession through other than God is polytheism,' while he explicitly speaks of

فيها: استوى، وعلا، وارتفع، وصعد، ويعرج إليه كذا، ويصعد إليه، وينزل من عنده، وهو عالٍ على كذا، ورفيع الدَّرجات، وترفع الأيدي إليه، ويجلس على كرسيه. اهـ [«مختصر الصواعق» (٣/ ١٠٩٥-١٠٩٦)].

٢٢- الذهبي (٧٤٨هـ).

وقد صحَّح أثر عمر رضي الله عنه: «إذا جلس الرَّبُّ عز وجل على الكرسي» في «كتابه العرش» (٢/ ١٢١)، وعلَّق عليه كما تقدَّم ذكره، وسيأتي كذلك قوله عند تخريج حديث عمر رضي الله عنه.

٢٣- محمد بن عبد الله بن المُحِبّ (٧٨٩هـ) رحمه الله، بوَّب في كتابه الكبير «الصفات» (١/ ٩٠ ق): (باب القعود).

٢٤- الشيخ عبد الرحمن بن حسن بن محمد بن عبد الوهاب (١٢٨٥هـ)

رحمهم الله في شرحه «فتح المجيد» (ص٤٩٨) (باب من جحد شيئًا من الأسماء والصفات)، فقد استدلَّ في شرحه بحديث عمر رضي الله عنه:

«إذا جلس الرَّبُّ عز وجل على الكرسي».

٢٥- الشيخ سُليمان بن سحمان (١٣٤٩هـ) رحمه الله.

قال في «الضياء الشارق في ردِّ شبهات الماذق المارق» (ص١٨٠):
