God Almighty's rising over the Throne as being like sitting on it, and he affirms for Him a hand, a face, and a direction, and he says it is correct to point to Him in the sky, and he claims that His descent to the lowest heaven is literal, thus anthropomorphizing Him—exalted is God far above what they say! So where is the transcendence of God Almighty after making Him a body that shares characteristics with even the basest of inanimate objects? And in that is a detraction and disparagement of His divinity, Glorified is He, from which He is absolutely free)."
Shaykh Ibn Saḥmān, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
"The answer is: It should be said to this Jahmī who associates partners with God in His worship, who denies His attributes and the descriptions of His majesty: We have clarified previously that the Shaykh does not declare someone a disbeliever merely for the seeking of intercession (tawassul) that the scholars know from the term tawassul.
As for seeking intercession according to the terminology of these extremists, the discussion on it will come in its proper place, if God Almighty wills.
As for his statement: '(he explicitly speaks of God Almighty's rising over the Throne as being like sitting on it).'
The answer is that we say: The report regarding that has come from the Commander of the Believers, ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, may God be pleased with him, upon whose tongue God placed the truth, as narrated by the Imam ʿAbd Allāh, son of the Imam Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal, in his book Al-Sunna in refutation of the Jahmiyya. Then he mentioned with his chain of transmission: 'When He, Blessed and Exalted, sits on the Footstool, a creaking sound is heard from it like the creaking of a new saddle.'"
