Ithbāt al-Ḥadd by al-Dashtī — Edited by ‘Ādil Āl Ḥamdān
Volume 1 · Page 11

Translation · EN

The Second Note:

Al-Albānī mentioned the book Ithbāt Al-Ḥadd lillāh Taʿālā (Affirming Al-Ḥadd for God, Exalted is He) in the index of Makhṭūṭāt Dār al-Kutub al-Ẓāhiriyya (p. 376), and commented on it with his statement: (There is nothing in it that testifies to that from the Book and the Sunna!!)

It is no secret that this statement invalidates the book from its beginning to its end!

For al-Dashtī in this book is merely a transmitter of the statements of the people of the Sunna and the congregation among the Companions, may God be pleased with them, the Successors, and others among the imams of the religion: such as ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Mubārak, al-Ḥumaydī, Aḥmad, Isḥāq, Ḥarb al-Kirmānī, ʿAbd Allāh b. Aḥmad, al-Khallāl, al-Dārimī, Ibn Baṭṭa, and others among the imams of the people of the Sunna, may Allah have mercy on them, and they are the ones we have been commanded to emulate and to hold fast to what they were upon.

It is an accepted fact for every person of Sunna and following: that they do not affirm issues of Monotheism (Tawhid) and Creed (Aqidah) except with authentic (Sahih), explicit evidence, and that they possess more Scrupulousness (Wara') and fear of God, Exalted is He, than to describe Him with what is not established, or what does not befit Him, Glorified is He.

For this reason, when Imam Aḥmad, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about the statement of Imam ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Mubārak, may Allah have mercy on him, regarding affirming Al-Ḥadd for God, Exalted is He, he did not say: "There is no evidence from the Book and the Sunna for what he said." Rather, he said, may Allah have mercy on him, affirming him: "This has testimonies from the Qurʾān in five places:

{To Him ascends good speech} [Fāṭir: 10], {Do you feel secure that He who is in the heaven} [Al-Mulk: 16], {The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him} [Al-Maʿārij: 4]. [And it will come in its entirety at number (19)].

I say: Would that the matter had been limited by al-Albānī to commenting with this phrase on
