8- Mujāhid b. Jabr al-Makkī (d. 103 AH), may Allah have mercy on him.
He said regarding His statement, the Exalted: {And We brought him near in communion} [Maryam: 52]: "Between the seventh heaven and the Throne are seventy thousand veils. He continued to bring Mūsā near until there was only one veil between Him and him. When he saw His place and heard the scratching of the pen, he said: 'My Lord, show me [Yourself], that I may look at You.'"
[Narrated by Ibn Jarīr (16/71) and Abū al-Shaykh in al-ʿAẓama (280). Al-Dhahabī said in al-ʿArsh (2/166): "This is established from Mujāhid, the Imam of Tafsir."]
9- Ḥammād b. Zayd (d. 179 AH), may Allah have mercy on him.
Ḥammād b. Zayd remained silent, then said: "He is in His place, drawing near to His creation however He wills." [Darʾ al-Taʿāruḍ (2/24-25)].
10- ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak (d. 181 AH), may Allah have mercy on him.
Muḥammad b. Sallām said: I asked Ibn al-Mubārak about the descent on the night of the middle of Shaʿbān.
ʿAbdullāh said: "O weak one, the night of the middle? He descends every night."
The man said: "O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, how does He descend? Does that place not become empty of Him?" ʿAbdullāh said: "He descends however He wills."
