Ithbāt al-Ḥadd by al-Dashtī — Edited by ‘Ādil Āl Ḥamdān
Volume 1 · Page 121

Translation · EN

  1. Al-Fudayl ibn ‘Iyad (d. 187 AH, may Allah have mercy on him):

He said: "If a Jahmi says to you: 'I disbelieve in a Lord who moves from His place,' then say: 'I believe in a Lord who does whatever He wills.'"

[Reported by al-Bukhari in Khalq Af‘al al-‘Ibad (61)].

  1. Ibn Qutayba (d. 276 AH, may Allah have mercy on him):

He said in Ta’wil Mukhtalif al-Hadith (p. 172): "If only these people would return to their innate dispositions (fitrah) and the natural constitution upon which they were created regarding the knowledge of the Creator, Glorified be He, they would know that Allah, the Exalted, is the Sublime (al-‘Ali), the Most High (al-A‘la), and that He is in the lofty place..." [End of quote].

  1. Harb al-Kirmani (d. 280 AH, may Allah have mercy on him):

He said: "The Jahmiyyah are the enemies of Allah; they are those who claim that the Qur’an is created... and that no place is known for Allah, and that He is not upon a Throne, nor a Footstool (Kursi). [They say] much [more] speech that I dislike to recount. They are disbelieving heretics (zanadiqah) and enemies of Allah, so beware of them." [End of quote].

[Al-Sunnah by Harb (96), my edited version].

  1. ‘Uthman ibn Sa‘id al-Darimi (d. 280 AH, may Allah have mercy on him):

He said in al-Naqd ‘ala al-Marisi (p. 3): "How can Bishr—meaning al-Marisi—be guided to monotheism (Tawhid) when he does not know the place of his [One] God?" [End of quote].

And he said (p. 62): "Every single person is more knowledgeable of Allah and His place than the Jahmiyyah." [End of quote].

He frequently used the term 'place' (makan) in reference to Allah, the Exalted, in his book al-Naqd.

[See: (pp. 244, 248, and 280)].
