  1. ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Battah al-‘Ukbari (d. 387 AH, may Allah have mercy on him):

He said in al-Ibanah al-Kubra (2656), while speaking about the Hululi Jahmiyyah:

"[The Jahmi] says: 'We say: He is beneath the seventh earth just as He is above the seventh heaven, and He is in every place; no place is devoid of Him, and He is not in one place to the exclusion of another.'

We responded: ... Allah the Exalted has informed us that He is in the heaven, upon the Throne, for He said: {Do you feel secure that He who is in the heaven...} [Al-Mulk: 17], and: {Indeed, I will take you and raise you to Myself} [Al-Imran: 55]. Then he mentioned the verses establishing [Allah’s] loftiness (al-‘uluww), then he said: 'This and its likes in the Qur’an are many. However, the cursed, Hululi, Mu‘tazili Jahmi turns a deaf ear to this and denies it, clinging instead to the ambiguous (mutashabih) [verses] seeking discord (fitnah) due to the deviance in his heart. This is because all Muslims have known many [lowly] places, and it is not permissible for anything of their Lord to be in them except His knowledge, His majesty, and His power; His Essence (Dhat), the Exalted, is not in them. Does the Jahmi claim that the place where Iblis resides is a place where Allah the Exalted is joined with him?! Rather, does the Jahmi claim that the Essence of Allah, the Exalted, dwells within Iblis?'

Exalted is Allah far above what the people of deviance and atheism (ilhad) say.

The Jahmi claimed that no place is devoid of Allah, yet Allah the Exalted has exposed his lie. Have you not heard His saying: {And when his Lord manifested (tajalla) Himself to the mountain, He rendered it as dust} [Al-A‘raf: 143]?

It should be said to the Jahmi: 'What do you think of the mountain when He manifested Himself to it? And how could He manifest Himself to the mountain if He were already in the mountain?!'

And it should be said to the Jahmi regarding his statement: 'Indeed, Allah is in every place': 'Tell us, does the sun rise upon Him when it rises? Do the wind, snow, and hail strike Him? If a man intended to build a structure, dig a well, or cast away filth, would he be casting that and performing those actions
