al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him): “Where is Allah?”
And they said: “He is from above just as He is from below; it is not known where He is, nor is He described by a place, nor is He in the heaven, nor is He on the earth.” Thus, they denied direction (al-jiha) and limit (al-hadd).
‘Abd al-Ghani ibn ‘Abd al-Wahid al-Maqdisi (d. 600 AH, may Allah have mercy on him). [See: Dhayl Tabaqat al-Hanabilah (2/22)].

Ibn Rajab (d. 795 AH, may Allah have mercy on him). He said in Dhayl al-Tabaqat (2/24): “In the Sahihayn, the affirmation of the term ‘place’ (al-makan) is established.”
Sheikh ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him). He was asked in his commentary on al-Wasitiyyah (p. 29, from the recorded transcript): “There are those who, when asked about Allah, say: ‘He is not described by time or place’?”
He replied: “He erred regarding time, but as for place, it is established. Regarding time, He, the Glorified and Exalted, has always existed: {He is the First and the Last} [Al-Hadid: 3]. He has always existed eternally; it is not said that He was non-existent in time and then came to be. However, regarding place, He is above the Throne; He informed us about Himself: {The Most Merciful rose over the Throne} [Taha: 5].”
