And authentic hadiths have been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, regarding this meaning:
7- The hadith of Muʿāwiya b. al-Ḥakam al-Sulamī (1) [may God be pleased with him].
in the revelation of Allah and rejected the verses of Allah." End quote.
See the previous comment explaining the meaning of this hadith.
Al-Dārimī, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Al-Naqḍ (p. 67): "Thus, the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of God be upon him: 'She is a believer,' is evidence that had she not believed that Allah is in the heaven, she would not have been a believer, and that it is not permissible for a believing slave to be freed except one who defines Allah as being in the heaven, just as Allah and His Messenger said." End quote.
I say: Reflect upon the words of this Imam and compare them with what was previously quoted in the introduction (p. 40) from Ibn Ḥajar, that the Jew who says: "(There is) no deity except the One who is in the heaven," his statement is not accepted from him; because he is from the anthropomorphists of the Jews, and that is disbelief according to them!! Unless he is an ignorant person who does not know anthropomorphism, like the case of the black slave girl whose statement the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, accepted due to her ignorance!!
Al-Dārimī, may Allah have mercy on him, also said in Al-Radd ʿalā al-Jahmiyya (64): "And in the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of God be upon him: 'Where is Allah?', is a falsification of the statement of one who says: He is in every place, and cannot be described with 'where?'. Because something from which no place is devoid, it is impossible to say about it: 'Where is it?' And 'where?' is only said for one who is in a place while another place is devoid of him." End quote.
I say: All the people of divestment among the Jahmīs, Mu'tazilites, Ash'arites, Maturidites, and others do not describe Allah Almighty with (where?), and they vehemently deny this hadith; because it seizes them by their throats and invalidates their false school of law in denying the elevation of the Lord Almighty over His creation.
Al-Qushayrī the Ash'arite (d. 465 AH) said in Al-Risāla al-Qushayriyya (p. 37) while affirming the denial of elevation: "He is exalted above it being said: How is He? Or where is He?..." End quote. And see: (p. 123).
