Ithbāt al-Ḥadd by al-Dashtī — Edited by ‘Ādil Āl Ḥamdān

And Abū al-Rabīʿ Sulaymān b. Ibrāhīm b. Hibat Allāh al-Isʿirdī narrated to us: The Hadith master ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī informed us: Abū Bakr Muḥammad b. Abī Naṣr al-Qāshānī and Abū al-Ṭayyib al-Laftuwānī Muḥammad b. Muḥammad b. Shujāʿ informed us.

They said: Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAbd al-Malik al-Khallāl informed us: Abū al-Muẓaffar Ibn Shabīb al-Muqriʾ informed us: Abū ʿUmar ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb informed us.

The Hadith master ʿAbd al-Ghanī said: And Abū al-Ghanāʾim al-Turk Maḥmūd b. [8/a] Aḥmad al-Iṣbahānī informed us — therein: Abū Ṭāhir al-Khiḍr b. al-Faḍl al-Ṣaffār informed us: Abū ʿAmr ʿAbd al-Wahhāb son of the Hadith master Abū ʿAbd Allāh Ibn Mandah informed us: My father informed us — reading to him —, and Abū ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb — by license — they said: Abū al-Ḥasan Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. ʿUmar b. Abān al-ʿAbdī al-Linbānī informed us: ʿAbd Allāh b. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal narrated to us: ʿAbd Allāh b. Aḥmad b. Shabbūyah Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to me, he said: I heard ʿAlī b. al-Ḥasan (1) b. Shaqīq say:

I heard ʿAbd Allāh — meaning: Ibn al-Mubārak — say: We know our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, above seven heavens, over the Throne, separate from His creation with a limit, and we do not say as the Jahmiyya said: here. And he pointed with his hand to the earth (2).

And Ibn Jarīr narrated it in Dhayl al-Mudhayyal (pp. 660-661, biography of Ibn al-Mubārak): I heard ʿAbd Allāh b. Aḥmad b. Shabbūya say: I heard ʿAlī b. al-Ḥasan say: We said to ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Mubārak: How do we know our Lord? He said: "Above seven heavens, upon the Throne, distinct from His creation with Al-Ḥadd, and we do not say as the Jahmiyya said that He is here" — and he pointed with his hand to the earth. And ʿUthmān al-Dārimī narrated it in Al-Naqḍ (33), and Al-Radd ʿalā al-Jahmiyya (162). And al-Bayhaqī narrated it in Al-Asmāʾ wa-al-Ṣifāt (902) and he interpreted it according to his habit of
