For he was asked about this report and other hadiths of the attributes, and he said: "These hadiths are Sahih (Authentic); the traditionists and jurists transmitted them from one another, and they are true according to us, we do not doubt them. But if it is said: 'How did He place His Foot?' and 'How did He laugh?' we say: 'This is not to be explained, nor have we heard anyone explain it.'" Its referencing has preceded under hadith number (25).
He, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "And the Footstool is the place of His two Feet." [al-Sunna by Ḥarb (51)].
He said (p. 96): "And from the statement of the people of the Sunna is: that the Footstool is before the Throne, and that it is the place of the two Feet." End quote.
And others, whose statements accepting this report and what it indicates cannot be gathered here.
Note: Al-Albānī cast doubt on the acceptance of this report narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās, may God be pleased with them both, despite his authenticating it!! Due to the possibility that he received it from the Children of Israel, or from their altered books!!
For al-Albānī said in some of his recorded answers when asked about this report: "Do we say God Almighty has two Feet, using this Mawquf report as evidence, or do we say as it was reported in the hadith that God Almighty has a Foot, without mentioning the dual form, stopping at the textual evidence?!"
He said: "If the Mawquf hadith cannot be said from opinion and Ijtihad firstly, and it does not carry the possibility of being from the Israelite reports, then at that time it takes the ruling of being Marfu'.
And this hadith is not of this sort!! Because it carries the possibility of being from the Israelite reports..." End quote. [From tape: 803-42]
I say: This statement is incorrect, and sufficient to refute it and clarify its falsehood is the consensus of the scholars and the people of the Sunna on receiving this report from Ibn ʿAbbās, may God be pleased with them both, with acceptance and submission, including it in the books of the Sunna and creed, and condemning anyone who attacks or rejects it.
