46- And by it, ʿAbd Allāh said: Aḥmad bin Saʿīd Abū Jaʿfar al-Dārimī narrated to me, he said: I heard my father say: I heard Khārija bin [Muṣʿab] (1) say:
The Jahmīs are disbelievers; inform their women that they are divorced, and that they are not lawful for their husbands. Do not visit their sick, and do not attend their funerals. Then he recited:
{Ṭā-Hā. We have not sent down to you the Qurʾān that you be distressed} up to His statement: {The Most Merciful rose over the Throne} (2), and can rising over (istiwāʾ) be anything but by sitting?
al-Raḥmān. He said in the introduction of his book (p. 5), after citing al-Albānī's weakening and interpretation of this hadith, he said: "And when I contemplated it, I found it devoid of verification and proof, far from the statement of Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jamāʿa, and in agreement with the statement of the people of misguidance, the Jahmiyya. So I drew attention to it as sincere advice to the Umma, and out of fear of being deceived by it..." etc.
Note: Muḥammad bin Saʿīd al-Qaḥṭānī, the editor of the book al-Sunna by ʿAbdullāh bin Aḥmad, may Allah have mercy on him, attacked this report with an ugly attack, and he was followed in that by ʿAṭiyya al-Zahrānī, the editor of the book al-Sunna by al-Khallāl, may Allah have mercy on him, and al-Walīd bin Muḥammad, the editor of the book al-Ibāna by Ibn Baṭṭa, may Allah have mercy on him (the section on refuting the Jahmiyya), and others who commented on this report!
The summary of al-Qaḥṭānī's attack on it is:
1 - That affirming sitting for the Lord Almighty is not from the school of the Predecessors (Salaf); rather, it is closer to the school of the anthropomorphists (Mujassima) and the assimilators (Mushabbiha)!!
2 - Attacking Khārija bin Muṣʿab, may Allah have mercy on him, as being a liar expressing his own belief!
