• (1) He is al-Ḥakam bin Maʿbad al-Khuzāʿī (d. 295 AH), may Allah have mercy on him. Abū al-Shaykh, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Tārīkh al-Muḥaddithīn bi-Aṣbahān (4/51): "He used to study jurisprudence according to the school of law of the Kufans, and he was a master of literature and rare terms, reliable, and a prolific narrator of hadith."
