47- And I found in a book that reached me, which is a copy of a copy in the handwriting of al-Jamāl son of the Ḥāfiẓ ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī:

That al-Ḥakam bin Maʿbad (1) mentioned in the book "Al-Ruʾya", he said:

Notes

lying." And likewise said Ibn ʿAdī and a group of the imams of this field!

[See: al-Ḍuʿafāʾ by Ibn ʿAdī (3/52), al-Thiqāt by Ibn Ḥibbān (1/284), and al-Siyar (7/326)].

  • Abū ʿAbdullāh said: (Here is a subtle point: ʿAbdullāh bin Aḥmad bin Ḥanbal said in al-ʿIlal wa-Maʿrifat al-Rijāl (2409): "My father forbade me from writing anything of hadith from Khārija."

Then he narrated this from him in his book al-Sunna. So this is Aḥmad's statement regarding the man's narration.

And you have seen the attestation of a group for him, and the criteria for distinguishing the authentic of his hadith from its defective, due to his being an obfuscator who makes mistakes.)

6 - Al-Qaḥṭānī accused Khārija of being an anthropomorphist expressing his doctrine!!

And I do not know from where he took this accusation and who preceded him in it?!

And how could the people of the Sunna permit themselves to narrate in their works from the anthropomorphists without following them up with refutation and rejection?!

  • (1) He is al-Ḥakam bin Maʿbad al-Khuzāʿī (d. 295 AH), may Allah have mercy on him. Abū al-Shaykh, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Tārīkh al-Muḥaddithīn bi-Aṣbahān (4/51): "He used to study jurisprudence according to the school of law of the Kufans, and he was a master of literature and rare terms, reliable, and a prolific narrator of hadith." End quote. I say: He has a book on al-Sunna, and al-Ruʾya, and a poem on al-Sunna in which he says at its beginning: I have granted you, O people of my affection, my advice / And indeed, I am famous for it in the worlds. And I have manifested the statement of truth and the Sunna which / The report regarding it from the Chosen One has been authenticated to me. Abū al-Shaykh transmitted it in Ṭabaqāt al-Muḥaddithīn (4/53), and al-Dhahabī in Tārīkh al-Islām (Obituaries of 295, p. 40), and I have transmitted it in full in my book *al-Jāmiʿ fī ʿAqāʾid
