49- The Ḥāfiẓ [23/A] Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad bin ʿAbd al-Wāḥid al-Maqdisī informed us, Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad bin Ḥamza bin Abī Jamīl al-Qurashī informed us, Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī bin al-Ḥasan bin al-Ḥusayn al-Sulamī al-Mawāzīnī informed us, the Judge ʿAyn al-Dawla Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd Allāh bin ʿAlī bin ʿIyāḍ informed us, Abū al-Ḥusayn Muḥammad bin Aḥmad bin Jumayʿ (1) informed us, Aḥmad bin Muḥammad bin ʿAbd Allāh bin ʿAbd al-Salām Makḥūl Abū ʿAlī informed us - in Beirut -, Abū ʿUlātha - meaning: Muḥammad bin ʿAmr - narrated to us, Makkī bin ʿAbd Allāh al-Ruʿaynī narrated to us, Sufyān bin ʿUyayna narrated to us, from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir [may God be pleased with him], he said:
When Jaʿfar bin Abī Ṭālib arrived from the land of Abyssinia, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, met him, and when Jaʿfar looked at the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, he hopped on one leg (ḥajala).
So the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, kissed between his eyes, and said to him: "My beloved, you are the most similar of people to my physical form and my character, and you were created from the clay from which I was created; narrate to me some of the wonders of the land of Abyssinia."
He said: Yes, may my father and mother be your ransom, O Messenger of God. While I was walking in one of its roads, there was an old woman with a basket (miktal) (3) on her head, and a young man came galloping
