on a horse of his, and he shoved her, throwing her on her face, and threw the basket off her head. So she stood up and said: 'To God we belong and to Him we shall return' (fastarjaʿat), and followed him with her gaze while saying to him: (Woe to you when the King sits upon His Footstool; and exacts retribution for the oppressed from the oppressor).
Jābir said: So I looked at the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and indeed his tears were upon his beard like pearls (1), then the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: "May God not purify a nation in which the oppressed does not take his right from the oppressor without being hindered" (2). [24/A]
This is a singular (gharīb) hadith from the hadith of Sufyān bin ʿUyayna; I do not know anyone who narrated it other than Makkī bin ʿAbd Allāh (3).
(1) Al-Jumān: It is small pearls, and it is said: beads made of silver resembling pearls. [Al-Majmūʿ al-Mughīth by Ibn al-Madīnī (1/356)].
(2) With a fatḥa on the tāʾ, meaning: without any harm befalling him that would disturb or unsettle him. [Tāj al-ʿArūs (20/394)]
(3) The hadith of Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh, may God be pleased with them both, is narrated by each of:
1- Abū al-Zubayr al-Makkī, and it is narrated from Abū al-Zubayr al-Makkī by each of:
a - Sufyān b. ʿUyayna: And it is narrated from him by: Makkī b. ʿAbdullāh al-Ruʿaynī, and he was alone in narrating it.
Al-ʿUqaylī narrated it in Al-Ḍuʿafāʾ (4/257), and al-Ṭabarānī in Al-Awsaṭ (6555),
and from him Abū Nuʿaym in Maʿrifat al-Ṣaḥāba (1435), and Ibn Jumayʿ narrated it in his Muʿjam (118), and through his route al-Ḍiyāʾ in Al-Mukhtāra, and from him: al-Dashtī as previously mentioned.
Al-ʿUqaylī said: Makkī from Ibn ʿUyayna, his hadith is not preserved, and it is not known except through him.
Al-Ṭabarānī said: No one narrated this hadith from Sufyān b. ʿUyayna except Makkī b. ʿAbdullāh.
Al-Ḍiyāʾ said: Singular from the hadith of Sufyān b. ʿUyayna; I do not know of anyone who narrated it other than Makkī.
Al-Dhahabī mentioned in Al-Mīzān (4/179) in the biography of this Makkī b. ʿAbdullāh
