[Ṭabaqāt al-Ḥanābila (2/30)]. No one delved into the chapters of the Sunna and creed and departed from the creed of the Predecessors (Salaf) and the people of the Sunna except that he fell in their estimation, even if he was a Hadith master with an abundance of Narration and Books. Imam al-Dārimī, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "No one among those who used to be mentioned delved into this Chapter except that he fell. He mentioned al-Karābīsī, who fell until he was no longer mentioned. There was a man with us who was a Hadith master and insightful, whom Sulaymān b. Ḥarb and the sheikhs in Basra used to honor, and he was my companion and comrade—meaning, he spoke concerning it—so he fell." [Dhamm al-Kalām by al-Anṣārī (1215)]
