"The Mu'tazilites appeared during the time of al-Maʾmūn, and what happened from them happened. The last of the innovations to appear was the doctrine of al-Ashʿarī. Its support was undertaken by the oppressors, the lords of the worldly life, and the perpetrators of injustices who engage in what contradicts the Sharia, such as astrology, philosophy, and addiction to injustices and transgression. This is so you may know that this innovation is the worst of innovations due to its appearance at the end of time, its spread in corrupt lands, and its callers employing deception, absurdity, and embellished speech that conceals disbelief and misguidance within. The time of this innovation is the most wicked of times, its followers are the most wicked of the nation, and its callers have the least religion in this community."
9 - Sheikh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ḥasan, may Allah have mercy on him, the author of the book Fatḥ al-Majīd, said in al-Durar al-Saniyya (3/208-211): "...The imams of the people of the Sunna and their followers have well-known compilations refuting this disbelieving, stubborn faction..."

Whoever desires further clarification regarding the condition of the Ash'arites, warning against them, and avoiding them, should look at Jamʿ al-Juyūsh wa-al-Dasākir ʿalā Ibn ʿAsākir by Yūsuf b. ʿAbd al-Hādī (d. 909 AH). He gathered the names of those who spoke against them in an independent section, saying: "(Section: We will mention a group of those from whom it is reported that they avoided the Ash'arites, al-Ashʿarī, and his companions during his time and up to today, by way of brevity, not by way of lengthening the biographies...)."
He mentioned more than 400 scholars who avoided the Ash'arites and explicitly declared boycotting them and warning against them. Then he said: "(We have seen among our companions, our associates, and those who studied with us more than a thousand individuals who avoided them, cut ties with them, and criticized them. And those we left out from the predecessors are more numerous than those we mentioned. This, by your life, is the true army (dasākir), not the fabricated army (ʿaskar) that Ibn ʿAsākir fabricated with truth and falsehood, who do not even reach fifty individuals among those he lied about... And by God,
