And the practitioner of Rafdh (rejection), Nasb (enmity), and Irja’ (separation of works from faith) (1)
Is heedless of Allah, cursed in all standings.
Whoever likens Allah to the creation, he has no
Religion, nor is he among the people of sanctity (al-wilayat). (2)
(1) Harb al-Kirmani (may Allah have mercy on him) said in al-Sunnah (99 / my editing): “(Al-Rafidah): They are those who disassociate themselves from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, revile them, disparage them, and declare the Ummah to be disbelievers except for a small group. The Rafidah have nothing to do with Islam.”
And he said: “The Rafidah have a worse effect on Islam than the people of disbelief from among the people of war (ahl al-harb).” End quote.
The Nawasib are: Those who harbor enmity toward the People of the House (Ahl al-Bayt), malign them, and declare them disbelievers. They are the opposite of the Rawafid.
It is a term that the Rafidah use for the People of the Sunnah. For this reason, Harb al-Kirmani said in his ‘Aqidah (116): “As for the Rafidah: they call the People of the Sunnah ‘Nasibah’ (Nawasib). The Rafidah have lied; rather, they are more deserving of this name, as they have set up (nasabu) for the companions of Muhammad ﷺ enmity and insult, and they spoke about them other than the truth, attributing to them a lack of justice—out of falsehood, injustice, audacity against Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and disdain for the right of the Messenger ﷺ. By Allah, they are more deserving of reproach and vengeance than them.”
As for the Murji'ah, Harb (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his ‘Aqidah (92): “(Al-Murji'ah): They are those who claim that faith is speech without action, and that faith is [only] speech, while actions are [merely] legislated rites; that faith is abstract (mujarrad), and that people do not excel over one another in faith; that their faith and the faith of the angels and prophets are one; that faith neither increases nor decreases; that there is no exception (istithna’) in faith; and that whoever believes with his tongue and does not act is a true believer, and that they are believers in the sight of Allah without exception. All of this is the doctrine of the Murji'ah, and it is the most wicked and misguided of doctrines, and the furthest from guidance.” End quote.
(2) The People of the Sunnah have reached a consensus on the disbelief of whoever likens Allah, the Exalted, to His creation. Among that:
Nu'aym bin Hammad (d. 228 AH, may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Whoever likens Allah to anything from His creation has disbelieved, and whoever denies what Allah has described Himself with has disbelieved. There is no anthropomorphism (tashbih) in what Allah has described Himself with, nor what His Messenger =”
