Ithbāt al-Ḥadd by al-Dashtī — Edited by ‘Ādil Āl Ḥamdān
Volume 1 · Page 325

Translation · EN

So he denied Al-Ḥadd for Him according to the mentioned attribute, and it is that which His creation knows, and the place where he applied it is interpreted with two meanings:

One of them: It is said upon a specific direction, and He is not extending into the directions; rather, He is outside the world, distinct from His creation, separate from them, not entering into all directions. And this is the meaning of the statement of Aḥmad: (Al-Ḥadd that none knows except Him).

And the second: That He is upon an attribute by which He is distinct from other than Him and differentiated. So He Almighty is uniquely One, immune from having any partner in His most specific attributes.

He said: And we have prevented the application of the statement of Al-Ḥadd in more than one place in our book, and it must be permissible upon the manner that we mentioned.

So this middle statement among the three statements of the judge is the one conforming to the statement of Aḥmad and other than him among the Imams.

And he has said: He Almighty is in a specific direction, and He is not extending into the directions; rather, He is outside the world, distinct from His creation, separate from them, not entering into all directions. And this is the meaning of the statement of Aḥmad: (Al-Ḥadd that none knows except Him).

And if the intent of Aḥmad, may Allah have mercy on him, was Al-Ḥadd from the direction of the Throne only, that would have been known to His servants, for they have known that His Al-Ḥadd from this direction is the Throne. Thus, it is known that Al-Ḥadd which they do not know is absolute, not restricted to the direction of the Throne.
