Muhammad ibn ‘Ali al-Karaji al-Qassab (d. 360 AH or before), may Allah have mercy on him. He stated in his book, Nukat al-Qur’an (1/426): “He has a boundary according to Himself, not a boundary perceived by His creation; and His knowledge encompasses all things, Glorified is He.”
He also stated regarding the verse: {But if they are arrogant—then those who are with your Lord exalt Him by night and by day, and they do not tire} [Fussilat: 38]: “This is a refutation of the Jahmiyya, the Mu‘tazila, and those who deny place and boundary for Allah—exalted is Allah—and claim that He is not in the heaven alone to the exclusion of the earth. As you see, He stated: {those who are with your Lord}, and they are the angels; no one doubts that they are in the heaven. Since they are ‘with Him,’ then He—Mighty and Exalted—is therein with a boundary (hadd) that He knows of Himself, even if His creation is incapable of grasping its essence (kunh).”
