212- Al-Ḥasan ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, he said: Maʿmar informed us, from Budayl al-ʿUqaylī, he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq informed me that someone who heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, while he was at Wādī al-Qurā on his horse informed him that a man from Banū al-Qayn asked him, saying: “O Messenger of God, who are these?” — He said: “These are those who go astray,” meaning the Christians.

213- Al-Qāsim narrated to us, he said: al-Ḥusayn narrated to us, he said: Khālid al-Wāsiṭī narrated to us, from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq, that a man asked the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, while he was besieging Wādī al-Qurā on a horse: “Who are these?” He said: “Those who go astray,” meaning the Christians.

214- Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Mahrān narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Mujāhid: “nor of those who go astray”, he said: “The Christians.”

215- Abū Kurayb narrated to us, he said: ʿUthmān ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, from Bishr ibn ʿUmāra, he said: Abū Rawq narrated to us, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk, from Ibn ʿAbbās: “nor of those who go astray”, he said: And other than the path of the Christians whom God caused to go astray on account of their fabrication against Him. He said: He says: Inspire us with Your true religion — which is that there is no deity worthy of worship except God alone, with no partner — so that You do not become angry with us as You became angry with the Jews, nor cause us to go astray as You caused the Christians to go astray, thus punishing us with what You punish them with. He says: Protect us from that by Your gentleness, Your mercy, and Your power.

216- Al-Qāsim narrated to us, he said: al-Ḥusayn narrated to us, he said: Ḥajjāj narrated to me, from Ibn Jurayj, he said: Ibn ʿAbbās said: “Those who go astray are the Christians.”
