262- Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Salamah ibn al-Faḍl narrated to us, on the authority of Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Muḥammad, the freed slave of Zayd ibn Thābit, from ʿIkrimah, or from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās: "For those mindful of God", meaning: those who beware of Mighty and Majestic God's punishment in abandoning what they know of guidance, and hope for His mercy by affirming the truth of what He brought.

263- Mūsā ibn Hārūn narrated to me, he said: ʿAmr ibn Ḥammād narrated to us, he said: Asbāṭ narrated to us, from al-Suddī in a report he mentioned, from Abū Mālik, and from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Ibn ʿAbbās—and from Murrah al-Hamdānī, from Ibn Masʿūd, and from some people among the Companions of the Prophet, Peace and blessings of God be upon him: "A guidance for those mindful of God", he said: They are the believers.

264- Abū Kurayb narrated to us, he said: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us, he said: Al-Aʿmash asked me about "the mindful of God", he said: So I answered him, and he said to me: Ask al-Kalbī about it. So I asked him, and he said: Those who avoid the major sins. He said: So I returned to al-Aʿmash, and he said: We consider that it is as such. And he did not reject it.

265- Al-Muthannā ibn Ibrāhīm al-Ṭabarī narrated to me, he said: Isḥāq ibn al-Ḥajjāj narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh, he said: ʿUmar Abū Ḥafṣ narrated to us, from Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah, from Qatādah: "A guidance for those mindful of God", they are those whom He characterized and described, establishing their attribute, saying: {Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them}.

266- Abū Kurayb narrated to us, he said: ʿUthmān ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, he said: Bishr ibn ʿUmārah narrated to us, from Abū Rawq, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk, from Ibn ʿAbbās: "For those mindful of God", he said: The believers who beware of polytheism with Me, and act in obedience to Me. (1)

And the most preferable of interpretations of the statement of God, Glorified be His Praise, "a guidance for those mindful of God", is the interpretation of the one who described the people as those who feared Blessed and Exalted God in committing what He forbade them from committing, so they avoided
