The discourse regarding the interpretation of the statement of God, majestic is His praise: {in the unseen}

272- Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd al-Rāzī narrated to us, he said: Salama ibn al-Faḍl narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Muḥammad, the freed slave of Zayd ibn Thābit, from ʿIkrima, or from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās: "In the unseen," he said: "In that which came from Him," meaning: from God, majestic is His praise.

273- Mūsā ibn Hārūn narrated to me, he said: ʿAmr ibn Ḥammād narrated to us, he said: Asbāṭ narrated to us, from al-Suddī in an account he mentioned, from Abū Mālik, and from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Ibn ʿAbbās — and from Murra al-Hamdānī, from Ibn Masʿūd, and from some people among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him: "In the unseen": As for the unseen, it is whatever is hidden from the servants regarding the matter of Paradise and the matter of Hellfire, and what God, blessed and exalted is He, mentioned in the Qurʾān. Their belief in that — meaning the believers among the Arabs — was not derived from an existing scripture or knowledge they possessed.

274- Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq al-Ahwāzī narrated to us, he said: Abū Aḥmad al-Zubayrī narrated to us, he said: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿĀṣim, from Zirr, he said: "The unseen is the Qurʾān." (1)

275- Bishr ibn Muʿādh al-ʿAqadī narrated to us, he said: Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ narrated to us, from Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūba, from Qatāda regarding His statement, "Who believe in the unseen," he said: "They believed in Paradise, Hellfire, the resurrection after death, and the Day of Resurrection; and all of this is unseen."
