350- Ibn Humayd narrated to us, he said: Salama b. al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad b. Ishaq, from Muhammad b. Abi Muhammad the freed slave of Zayd b. Thabit, from 'Ikrima, or from Sa'id b. Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: {And when they are alone with their devils} he said: When they are alone with their devils from the Jews, who command them to deny and oppose what the Messenger brought, {they say: "Indeed, we are with you"}, meaning: we are upon the same as what you are upon; {we were only mocking}.

351- Musa b. Harun narrated to me, he said: 'Amr b. Hammad narrated to us, he said: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi in a report he mentioned from Abu Malik, and from Abu Salih, from Ibn 'Abbas—and from Murra al-Hamdani, from Ibn Mas'ud, and from some people among the Companions of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him: {And when they are alone with their devils}, as for their devils, they are their leaders in disbelief.

352- Bishr b. Mu'adh al-'Aqadi (1) narrated to us, he said: Yazid b. Zuray' narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatada regarding his statement: {And when they are alone with their devils}, meaning their leaders in evil, {they say: "Indeed, we were only mocking"}.

353- al-Hasan b. Yahya narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, he said: Ma'mar informed us from Qatada regarding his statement: {And when they are alone with their devils}, he said: The polytheists.

354- Muhammad b. 'Amr al-Bahili narrated to me, he said: Abu 'Asim narrated to us, he said: 'Isa b. Maymun narrated to us, he said: 'Abd Allah b. Abi Najih narrated to us, from Mujahid regarding the statement of God, Mighty and Majestic: {And when they are alone with their devils}, he said: When the hypocrites are alone with their companions from the disbelievers.

355- al-Muthanna b. Ibrahim narrated to me, he said: Abu Hudhayfa narrated to us, from Shibl b. 'Abbad, from 'Abd Allah b. Abi Najih, from Mujahid: {And when they are alone with their devils}, he said: Their companions from the hypocrites and polytheists.

356- al-Muthanna narrated to me, he said: Ishaq b. al-Hajjaj narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah b. Abi
