11- Ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Mahrān narrated to us, he said: Sufyān narrated to us, from Ibrāhīm al-Hajarī, from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, from the Prophet (Peace and blessings of God be upon him), the like of it.

12- Abū Kurayb Muḥammad ibn al-ʿAlāʾ narrated to us, he said: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us, he said: ʿĀṣim narrated to us, from Zirr, from ʿAbd Allāh, he said: Two men disputed over a Sūra, so this one said: "The Prophet (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) taught me to recite it." And this one said: "The Prophet (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) taught me to recite it." So he came to the Prophet (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) and informed him of that. He said: So his face changed color, and there was a man with him who said: "Recite as you were taught" — I do not know whether he was commanded with something or it was something he invented from his own accord — "for those before you were destroyed only by their disagreement with their prophets." He said: So every man among us stood up, not reciting according to the recitation of his companion — or something similar to this and its meaning. (1)

13- Saʿīd ibn Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Amawī narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, he said: al-Aʿmash narrated to us — and Aḥmad ibn Manīʿ narrated to me, he said: Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Amawī narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash — from ʿĀṣim, from Zirr ibn Ḥubaysh, he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd said: We disputed over a Sūra of the Qurʾān, and we said: Thirty-five or thirty-six verses. He said: So we went to the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him), and we found ʿAlī speaking privately with him,
