“...resembling each other,” meaning all choice, with no inferior quality in it. Indeed, the fruits of this world are sorted, from which some are discarded as inferior, whereas the fruits of Paradise are all choice, none of which is discarded.

523- al-Qāsim narrated to us, he said: al-Ḥusayn narrated to us, he said: Ḥajjāj narrated to me, from Ibn Jurayj, he said: As for the fruits of this world, some are discarded as inferior and some are of pure quality; whereas the fruits of Paradise are all pure quality, resembling one another in goodness, with none of them being inferior. (1)

And others said: Its resemblance is in color, while differing in taste.

• Mention of those who said that:

524- Mūsā narrated to me, he said: ʿAmr narrated to us, he said: Asbāṭ narrated to us, from al-Suddī, in a report he mentioned, from Abū Mālik, and from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Ibn ʿAbbās — and from Murra, from Ibn Masʿūd, and from some people among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him: “And they are given thereof in resemblance” in color and appearance, but it does not resemble it in taste.

525- Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr narrated to me, he said: Abū ʿĀṣim narrated to us, from ʿĪsā, from Ibn Abī Najīḥ, from Mujāhid: “And they are given thereof in resemblance” — like cucumbers.

526- al-Muthannā narrated to us, he said: Abū Ḥudhayfa narrated to us, he said: Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Najīḥ, from Mujāhid: And they are given thereof in resemblance in its color while differing in its taste, like cucumbers among Armenian cucumbers.

527- I was narrated from ʿAmmār ibn al-Ḥasan, he said: Ibn Abī Jaʿfar narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabīʿ ibn Anas: “And they are given thereof in resemblance,” resembling one another while differing in taste.

528- al-Ḥasan ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, he said: al-Thawrī informed us, from Ibn Abī Najīḥ, from Mujāhid, regarding His statement: “resembling each other,” he said: Resembling in color, and differing in taste.
