580- Al-Qāsim narrated to us, he said: Al-Ḥusayn ibn Dāwūd narrated to us, he said: Ḥajjāj narrated to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid concerning His statement: {"How can you disbelieve in Allah while you were dead and He gave you life, then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you to life"}, he said: You were nothing when He created you, then He causes you to die the true death, then He brings you to life. And His statement: {"You have caused us to die twice and given us life twice"} is similar to it.

581- Al-Qāsim narrated to us, he said: Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us, he said: Ḥajjāj narrated to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, he said: ʿAṭāʾ al-Khurāsānī narrated to me, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: It is His statement: {"You have caused us to die twice and given us life twice"}.

582- It was narrated to me on the authority of ʿAmmār ibn al-Ḥasan, he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Jaʿfar narrated to us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of al-Rabīʿ, he said: Abū al-ʿĀliya narrated to me concerning the statement of Allah: {"How can you disbelieve in Allah while you were dead"}, he says: When they were nothing, then He gave them life when He created them, then He caused them to die, then He will bring them to life on the Day of Resurrection, then they returned to Him after life.

583- It was narrated to me on the authority of al-Minjāb, he said: Bishr ibn ʿUmāra narrated to us, on the authority of Abū Rawq, on the authority of al-Ḍaḥḥāk, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His statement: {"You have caused us to die twice and given us life twice"}, he said: You were dust before He created you, so that is a death; then He gave you life and created you, so that is a giving of life. Then He causes you to die and you return to the graves, so that is another death. Then He resurrects you on the Day of Resurrection, so that is a giving of life. Thus, they are two deaths and two lives, and that is His statement: {"How can you disbelieve in Allah while you were dead and He gave you life, then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you to life, then to Him you will return"}.

584- Abū Kurayb narrated to us, he said: Wakīʿ narrated to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of al-Suddī, on the authority of Abū Ṣāliḥ: {"How can you disbelieve in Allah while you were dead and He gave you life, then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you to life, then to Him you will return"}, he said: He gives you life in the grave, then He causes you to die.
