with the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him. When the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, finished, ʿUmar stood up to him and said: O Prophet of God, I passed by so-and-so just now while you were praying, and I said to him: The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, is praying and you are sitting! So he said: Go to your work if you have work. The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: Why did you not strike his neck? So ʿUmar stood up hurriedly. He said: O ʿUmar, return, for your anger is might and your pleasure is judgment; indeed, God has in the seven heavens angels who pray, He has no need of the prayer of so-and-so. ʿUmar said: O Prophet of God, and what is their prayer? He did not reply to him with anything, then Jibrīl came to him and said: O Prophet of God, did ʿUmar ask you about the prayer of the people of heaven? He said: Yes. He said: Convey greetings of peace to ʿUmar, and inform him that the people of the lowest heaven are in prostration until the Day of Resurrection, saying: "Glory be to the Possessor of dominion and sovereignty," and the people of the second heaven are bowing until the Day of Resurrection, saying: "Glory be to the Possessor of might and power," and the people of the third heaven are standing until the Day of Resurrection, saying: "Glory be to the Living who does not die" (1).

618- Abū Jaʿfar said: And Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm and Sahl b. Mūsā al-Rāzī narrated to me, they said: Ibn ʿUlayya narrated to us, he said: al-Jurayrī informed us, from Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Jasrī, from ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ṣāmit, from Abū Dharr: that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, visited him—or that Abū Dharr visited the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him—and said: O Messenger of God, may my father be your ransom, which speech is most beloved to God? He said: What God chose for His angels: "Glory be to my Lord and with His praise, glory be to my Lord and with His praise" (2).
