that which you do not know," he says: I have observed from the heart of Iblīs what you have not observed of his arrogance and delusion (1).

627- And Mūsā narrated to me, he said: ʿAmr narrated to us, he said: Asbāṭ narrated to us, from al-Suddī in a report he mentioned, from Abū Mālik, and from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Ibn ʿAbbās—and from Murra, from Ibn Masʿūd, and from some people among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him: "Indeed, I know that which you do not know," meaning regarding the matter of Iblīs.

628- And Aḥmad b. Isḥāq al-Ahwāzī narrated to us, he said: Abū Aḥmad narrated to us—and Muḥammad b. Bashshār narrated to us, he said: Muʾammal narrated to us—they both said: Sufyān narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Najīḥ, from Mujāhid: "Indeed, I know that which you do not know," he said: He knew disobedience from Iblīs and created him for it.

629- And Mūsā b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Masrūqī narrated to me, he said: Muḥammad b. Bishr narrated to us, he said: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAlī b. Badhīma, from Mujāhid, the like of it (2).

630- Abū Kurayb narrated to us, he said: Ibn Yamān narrated to us, from Sufyān, from ʿAlī b. Badhīma, from Mujāhid, the like of it (3).

631- And Ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Ḥakkām narrated to us, from ʿAnbasa, from Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from al-Qāsim b. Abī Bazza, from Mujāhid regarding His statement: "Indeed, I know that which you do not know," he said: He knew disobedience from Iblīs and created him for it (4).
