706 - And I was narrated from ʿAmmār ibn al-Ḥasan, who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Jaʿfar narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabīʿ, the like of it.

And that is similar to the meaning of our statement regarding it.

And the prostration of the angels to Adam was an honor for Adam and obedience to God, not worship of Adam, just as:-

707 - Bishr ibn Muʿādh narrated it to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ narrated to us, saying: Saʿīd narrated to us, from Qatāda, regarding His statement: "And when We said to the angels, 'Prostrate to Adam,'" so obedience was to God, and the prostration was for Adam; God honored Adam by having His angels prostrate to him. (1)

The discourse on the interpretation of the statement of Him whose mention is exalted: ﴿And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise"﴾

Abū Jaʿfar said: In this verse there is clear evidence of the correctness of the statement of him who said that Iblīs was expelled from Paradise after displaying arrogance against prostrating to Adam, and Adam was made to dwell in it before Iblīs descended to the earth. Do you not hear God, majestic is His praise, saying: "And We said, 'O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom plentifully wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.' Then the Devil caused them to slip from it and removed them from that [state] in which they were." Thus it is clear that Iblīs only caused them to slip from obedience to God after he was cursed and displayed arrogance, because the prostration of the angels to Adam was after the spirit was breathed into him, and at that time occurred Iblīs's refusal to prostrate to him, and upon that refusal the curse befell him. Just as:-

708 - Mūsā ibn Hārūn narrated to me, saying: ʿAmr ibn Ḥammād narrated to us, saying: Asbāṭ narrated to us, from al-Suddī, in a report he mentioned, from Abū Mālik and from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from
