719 - And Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to me, Hushaym narrated to us—and Ibn Wakīʿ narrated to us, he said: ʿImrān ibn ʿUtaybah narrated to us—both from Ḥuṣayn, on the authority of Abū Mālik, regarding His statement: "And do not approach this tree," he said: It is the ear of grain.

720 - And Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us, he said: Ibn Mahdī narrated to us—and Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq al-Ahwāzī narrated to us, he said: Abū Aḥmad al-Zubayrī narrated to us—they both said: Sufyān narrated to us, on the authority of Ḥuṣayn, on the authority of Abū Mālik, the like of it. (2)

721 - And Abū Kurayb and Ibn Wakīʿ narrated to us, they said: Ibn Idrīs narrated to us, he said: I heard my father, on the authority of ʿAṭiyyah, regarding His statement: "And do not approach this tree," he said: The ear of grain. (3)

722 - And Bishr ibn Muʿādh narrated to us, he said: Yazīd narrated to us, on the authority of Saʿīd, on the authority of Qatāda, he said: The tree from which Adam was forbidden was the ear of grain. (4)

723 - And al-Muthannā ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to me, he said: Muslim ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, he said: Al-Qāsim narrated to us, he said: A man from Banū Tamīm narrated to me that Ibn ʿAbbās wrote to Abū al-Jald asking him about the tree from which Adam ate, and the tree beside which he repented; so Abū al-Jald wrote to him: "You asked me about the tree from which Adam was forbidden, and it is the ear of grain, and you asked me
