724 - And Ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Salama narrated to us, from Ibn Isḥāq, from a man among the people of knowledge, from Mujāhid, from Ibn ʿAbbās, that he used to say: The tree from which Adam was forbidden is wheat. (2)

725 - And al-Muthannā narrated to me, he said: Isḥāq narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, he said: Ibn ʿUyayna and Ibn al-Mubārak informed us, from al-Ḥasan b. ʿUmāra, from al-Minhāl b. ʿAmr, from Saʿīd b. Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: The tree from which God forbade Adam and his wife was the ear of grain. (3)

726 - And Ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Salama narrated to us, from Ibn Isḥāq, from some of the people of Yemen, from Wahb b. Munabbih al-Yamānī, that he used to say: It is wheat, but its grain in Paradise is like the kidneys of cows, softer than butter and sweeter than honey. And the people of the Torah say: It is wheat. (4)

727 - And Ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Salama narrated to us, he said: Muḥammad b. Isḥāq narrated to me, from Yaʿqūb b. ʿUtba: that he was told it is the tree against which the angels rub themselves for immortality.

728 - Ibn Wakīʿ narrated to us, he said: Ibn Yamān narrated to us, from Jābir b. Yazīd b. Rifāʿa, from Muḥārib b. Dithār, he said: It is the ear of grain.
