Your anger?" It was said to him: "Yes." He said: "Lord, had You written this against me?" It was said to him: "Yes." He said: "Lord, if I repent and set things right, will You return me to Paradise?" 781 - Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ, saying: Someone who heard ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr say narrated to me: Adam said: "O Lord, my sin that I committed—was it something You wrote against me before You created me, or something I originated from myself?" He said: "Rather, it was something I wrote against you before I created you." He said: "Then just as You wrote it against me, forgive it for me." He said: So that is the statement of Allah: "Then Adam received words from his Lord." (2)

782 - And Ibn Sinān narrated to us, saying: Muʾammal narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ, saying: Someone who heard ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr informed me, the like of it.

783 - And Ibn Sinān narrated to us, saying: Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ, from someone who heard ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr say: Adam said..., and he mentioned the like of it.

784 - And al-Muthannā narrated to us, saying: Abū Nuʿaym narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ, saying: Someone who heard ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr informed me, with similar text.

785 - And al-Ḥasan ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Razzāq informed us, saying: al-Thawrī informed us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, from ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr, the like of it.
