the light that was sent down with him—it is they who are the successful.} (1) [Surah al-Aʿrāf: 156-157].

805- And as Ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, he said: Salamah ibn al-Faḍl narrated to us, from Ibn Isḥāq, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Muḥammad, the freed slave of Zayd ibn Thābit, from ʿIkrima or Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās: "and fulfill My covenant," which I took upon your necks regarding the Prophet Muḥammad when he comes to you, (2) "I will fulfill your covenant," that is, I will fulfill for you what I promised you upon believing in him and following him, by removing what was upon you of the burden and shackles that were on your necks due to your sins arising from your transgressions (3).

806- And al-Muthannā narrated to us, he said: Ādam narrated to us, he said: Abū Jaʿfar narrated to us, from al-Rabīʿ, from Abū al-ʿĀliya regarding His statement: "fulfill My covenant, I will fulfill your covenant," he said: His covenant to His servants is the religion of Islam, that they follow him; "I will fulfill your covenant," meaning Paradise (4).

807- And Mūsā ibn Hārūn narrated to us, he said: ʿAmr ibn Ḥammād narrated to us, he said: Asbāṭ narrated to us, from al-Suddī: "fulfill My covenant, I will fulfill your covenant": As for "fulfill My covenant," it is what I covenanted with you in the Book. And as for "I will fulfill your covenant," it is Paradise; I covenanted with you that if you act in obedience to Me, I will admit you to Paradise (5).

808- And al-Qāsim narrated to me, he said: al-Ḥusayn narrated to us, he said: Ḥajjāj narrated to me, from Ibn Jurayj regarding His statement: "and fulfill My covenant, I will fulfill your covenant," he said: That is the covenant that was taken from them in al-Māʾida: {And Allah had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We raised from among them twelve
