So God, majestic is His praise, commanded those whose state He described among the rabbis of the Children of Israel to make their recourse in fulfilling God's covenant that they covenanted with Him through seeking help in patience and prayer, just as He commanded His Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, with that, saying to him: {So be patient}, O Muḥammad, {over what they say and glorify the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during hours of the night glorify [Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied} [Ṭāhā: 130]. So He, majestic is His praise, commanded him in his afflictions to resort to patience and prayer. And:

852- Muḥammad ibn al-ʿAlāʾ and Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, they said: Ibn ʿUlayya narrated to us, he said: ʿUyayna ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from his father: That the death of Ibn ʿAbbās's brother Qutham was announced to him while he was on a journey, so he recited the verse of returning. Then he stepped aside from the road, made his mount kneel, and prayed two units of prayer in which he prolonged the sitting; then he stood up and walked to his mount, saying: {And seek help through patience and prayer; and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive}. As for Abū al-ʿĀliya, he used to say according to what:

853- Al-Muthannā narrated to me, he said: Ādam narrated to us, he said: Abū Jaʿfar narrated to us, from al-Rabīʿ, from Abū al-ʿĀliya: "(And seek help through patience and prayer)" he said: He says: Seek help
