All these reports that we have mentioned from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of God be upon him, are close in meaning; because the statement of a speaker: "So-and-so is steadfast upon a door among the doors of this matter," "So-and-so is steadfast upon an aspect among the aspects of this matter," and "So-and-so is steadfast upon a mode (harf) of this matter" are equal. Do you not see that Allah, majestic is His praise, described a people who worshipped Him upon an aspect among the aspects of acts of worship, informing about them that they worshipped Him upon a mode (harf), saying: {And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge} (11) [Surah al-Hajj: 11], meaning that they worshipped Him upon the aspect of doubt, not upon certainty and submission to His command.

Likewise, the narration of whoever narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, that he said: "The Qur'an was revealed from seven doors" and "It was revealed according to seven modes (ahruf)" are equal; their meanings are concordant, and their Interpretation does not differ in this aspect.

And the meaning of all of that is his report, peace and blessings of God be upon him, regarding what Allah specifically granted him and his nation of merit and honor that He did not grant to anyone else in His Revelation.

That is because every book whose revelation preceded our Book to a prophet among the prophets of Allah, May God's blessings and peace be upon them, was only revealed in a single tongue; whenever it was translated into a tongue other than the one in which it was revealed, that was a translation and Tafsir (1) for it, not a recitation of it as Allah revealed it.

Whereas our Book was revealed in seven tongues; whichever of those seven tongues a reciter recites it in, he is reciting it as Allah revealed it, neither translating nor interpreting, until he converts it from those seven tongues to another, at which point the person doing so—if he correctly captures its meaning—becomes its translator, just as the reciter
