243 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir al-Dimashqi narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah Nasih—freed slave of the Banu Umayyah—narrated to us, from Yahya al-Tawil, from Makhul—regarding a man who experiences a wet dream at night and wishes to have intercourse with his wife before performing ghusl from his wet dream—he said: "He should urinate and wash his penis and testicles of the trace of his wet dream, then he may proceed."
244 - Abu al-'Abbas al-Walid was asked about his statement: "He should urinate"? He said: "He said: Because if he does not urinate, it may cause madness or something else in his child."
245 - Al-Walid said: Abu 'Amr narrated to us—regarding a man and his wife who slept under a blanket, and when they awoke, they found moisture on their blanket and did not know from which of them it came—he said: "Both of them should perform ghusl."
Chapter: Al-'Azl (Coitus Interruptus)
• Ahmad ibn Hanbal was asked about al-'azl? He said: "As for the free woman, no [it is not done without her permission], unless it is with her permission." He also said: "If she gives permission, there is no harm."
• And I heard Ishaq say: "There is no harm in al-'azl. The free woman is to be consulted, whereas the slave-woman is not to be consulted, unless it is a slave-woman who has a husband; and he does not perform 'azl with her except by her command. As for the concubine, her master does not consult her. Nor do you consult your own slave-woman."
Chapter: The Person in a State of Janabah Remembering Allah
• I heard Ahmad say: "The person in a state of janabah may remember Allah, but he may not recite the Qur'an."
(1) Thus it is in the original, and it is possible that the correct reading is: "yuqal" (it is said). (2) Thus it is in the original, and perhaps the correct reading is: "fala" (then he does not).
