• It was said to Ahmad: If one wipes over his leather socks, then wraps his turban over it, does he wipe over the turban? He said: "I do not know."

259 - Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Naysaburi narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Nafi', who said: Malik was asked about wiping over the turban and the head-covering (khimar)? He said: "It is not appropriate for a man or a woman to wipe over a turban or a head-covering; rather, they should wipe over their heads."

• It was said to Ahmad: And what is the duration for wiping over socks and sandals? He said: "It is the same status as the leather sock (khuff)." It was said: And the turban? He said: "Nothing has reached me regarding the turban, but in my opinion, it has the same status as the leather sock," meaning: three days and their nights for the traveler, and a day and a night for the resident.
