Volume 1 · Page 118Chapter: Wiping over the Top and Bottom of the Khuff

Translation · EN

275 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Abu 'Amr said—regarding the wiping—: "A single wipe, drawing [the hand] towards the leg."

276 - 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Jazari narrated to us, saying: Ziyad ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, from al-Fadl ibn Mubashshir, who said: I saw Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah perform ablution and wipe the tops of his two leather socks once. We asked him [about it], and he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) doing like this."

277 - Zayd ibn Yazid narrated to us, saying: 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Ziyad narrated to us, from Husayn, from al-Sha'bi, who said: "A single wipe; if you wish [do it] like this, and if you wish [do it] like this," and he brought his fingers forward, backward, and across.

Chapter: Regarding one who wipes the top and the bottom of the leather sock

• I heard Ishaq ibn Ibrahim—and a man asked him about wiping the leather sock—say: "The top of the leather sock and its bottom is more beloved to me."

• And I asked Ishaq—another time—about wiping the two leather socks, and he said: "From above and below," and he described it to us.
