292 - Amr ibn Uthman narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Abdah, who said: "I hasten to break my state of purity by putting on the leather socks so that I may wipe over them; following the Sunnah."
Chapter: Wiping when the duration of the state of purity has passed
I said to Ahmad ibn Hanbal: "A man, when the time for which he broke his state of purity arrived, wiped [again] and prayed?" He said: "He must repeat the prayers that exceeded the time [allotted] for wiping."
And I asked Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, I said: "A man is on a journey, and he has prayed in his leather socks for three days and their nights, then the time for prayer came, and he wanted to remove the leather sock, but the leather sock was tight on his foot and would not come off, what should he do?" He said: "He wipes and prays." I said: "Does he repeat the prayer?" He seemed to say: "No." He said: "Because the people of Medina hold that wiping is for eight days." He said: "And I hold that it is three days and their nights, but I adopted the view of the people of Medina in a situation of excuse."
And Abu Ya'qub said: "He should remove the leather sock from his foot, or cut the leather sock in any way [possible]."
293 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from his father, from al-Hasan, who said: "Wipe over the two leather socks as long as you do not take them off."
294 - Amr ibn Uthman narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid narrated to us, saying: It was said to Abu Amr: "If someone wiped over his two leather socks for a month, does he repeat his prayer?" He said: "He does not repeat his prayer."
295 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, saying: Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: I heard Yahya ibn Ayyub narrate from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Ali ibn Rabah, from Uqbah ibn Amir, who said: "I arrived to see Umar ibn al-Khattab at the conquest of Damascus, and I was wearing over-socks (jarmuqaniyyain). He said: 'Were you wiping over them?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'For how long?' I said: 'For a week (Jumu'ah).' He said: 'You have hit upon the Sunnah.'"
