Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 126Chapter: Regarding one who wipes over his khuff, then wipes off the trace of the wiping from his khuff

Translation · EN

Chapter: One who wipes over his leather socks, then wipes away the trace of the wiping from his leather sock

• I said to Ishaq: A man wiped over his leather socks, then wiped away the trace of the wiping from his leather sock with his garment while it was moist? He said: "There is nothing upon him; once he has wiped, it has sufficed him." Then he said: "It is like a towel in ablution, and it has been permitted."

Chapter: Interpretation of: From Hadath (ritual impurity) to Hadath

• I heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal say: "He prays in the leather sock until the hour in which he became ritually impure (hadatha)."

• And I heard Ishaq say: "From the hadath to the hadath; there is no doubt in that, completion of five prayers. The meaning of wiping from hadath to hadath is only because when he becomes ritually impure, wiping becomes incumbent upon him. Even if he delays it from the hadath until the time of another prayer passes for him, it is counted against him from the hadath. Thus, there shall be no more than five prayers with the wiping. This is the interpretation of wiping from the hadath to the hadath."

298 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: Abu Dawud narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Asim al-Ahwal, from Abu Uthman, that Umar said: "He wipes until the hour in which he [first] wiped."

Chapter: One who wipes over sandals and socks, then removes the sandals

• I heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal—and he was asked about a man who wiped over sandals and socks, then removed the sandals—he said: "He must remove the socks and repeat the ablution."

• I heard Ishaq say: "If you have wiped over the socks and the sandals, then proceed with your prayer; for your ablution has not been invalidated, and do not wash your feet, and do not repeat the ablution."
