Volume 1 · Page 138Chapter: A man who prays two prayers with a single Tayammum

Translation · EN

327 - Al-Walid said: From Khulayd and Sa'id ibn Bashir, from Qatadah, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, who said: "Tayammum is one strike for the face and the palms."

328 - Al-Walid said: Abu 'Amr informed us, from 'Ata', that he used to say—regarding Tayammum: "One wiping for the face, then another strike for his palms."

329 - And Abu 'Amr adopts this view.

330 - Al-Musayyib ibn Wadih narrated to us, saying: Abu Ishaq narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, who said: I asked al-Sha'bi about Tayammum? He struck the ground with his hand, then struck one hand with the other, then wiped his face and his palms.

Chapter: A man praying two prayers with one Tayammum

• I asked Ahmad, saying: May a man pray two prayers with one Tayammum? He said: "As for me, it is more pleasing to me that he performs Tayammum for every prayer."

• And I heard Ishaq say: "The Sunnah is that he should perform Tayammum for every prayer, due to the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: {And do not find water, then perform Tayammum with clean soil...} up to the end of the verse, and because of what was mentioned by 'Ali, Ibn 'Umar, and those who followed them from the Tabi'in, such as Ibrahim al-Nakha'i and al-Sha'bi."
