362 - Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: It was said to Abu 'Amr al-Awza'i: How should the amputee perform tayammum? He said: "He touches the earth with his sound palm, then wipes his face with it, and passes it over the stump of the amputated limb." It was said to Abu 'Amr: What if both his hands are amputated? He said: "He wipes his extremities on the earth, then passes them over his face."
Chapter: The one who performs tayammum passes by water but does not perform wudu
• I heard Ishaq say: "If you have performed tayammum, then passed by water and did not perform wudu, and have passed the water, your tayammum is invalidated in any case. So, perform tayammum again from the beginning, because you neglected the water after finding it, unless you were in a place that could not be reached, in which case it is as if you did not find it."
363 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: 'Ar'ara ibn al-Birrind narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from al-Hasan, who said: "If he performs tayammum, then comes upon water but does not perform wudu, and the time for prayer arrives," he said: "He repeats the tayammum."
• And I heard Ishaq say: "If you are by a river or a well and are unable to go down, and you do not have with you anything to draw water with, then perform tayammum. Do not hasten to perform tayammum until you fear the time is expiring, for you are in the position of one who is unable to obtain water."
Chapter: One who does not find water except for a price
• I heard Ishaq say: "If you do not find water except for a price that people generally sell it for, then buy it; for it is not appropriate for you to perform tayammum when you find that which you can buy at the prices people pay. If it is more than that, then you are not obliged to buy it. However, if you act out of virtue and buy it at whatever price it has reached, that is more beloved to us, according to what Abu Hurayrah said: 'I shall surely bathe on Friday, even if it be for a dinar per cup.'"
