If a speaker says: 'But the rulings of the prophets differ?' it is said to him: 'You are truthful, but every act mentioned regarding any of the prophets as a Sunnah—whether it is a concession (rukhsah) or a firm ruling ('azmah) for the Muslims—following that is good and permissible, as long as the law of our Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) is not to the contrary.' Allah (the Exalted) said: {Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so from their guidance take an example}.
399 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Muqri' narrated to us, saying: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, saying: Khalid narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Shaqiq, who said: Abu Hurayrah informed us, saying: 'Musa (peace be upon him) was a shy man, and he was never seen naked, so the Children of Israel said: "He only avoids bathing with us because he has a scrotal hernia." So he bathed and placed his garment upon a stone, and the stone began to run away, and he followed it, striking it and saying: "My garment, O stone! My garment, O stone!" until it stopped before a gathering of the Children of Israel, and then [the verse] was revealed: {O you who have believed, do not be like those who harmed Musa, then Allah cleared him of what they said; and he was, in the sight of Allah, distinguished}.
400 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: Abu Dawud narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, that he said—regarding bathing in a bathhouse (hammam): "There is no harm in it, but it is more beloved to me that one bathes away from the drain from which the water exits."
