Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 164Chapter: Trimming the Moustache and Letting the Beard Grow

Translation · EN

401 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: [The narrator] narrated to us [from someone] (1), from Ibn 'Abbas, that he was asked about eight men who bathed from the basin of a bathhouse (hammam), among whom was a person in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity)? He said: 'Water does not become ritually impure (yujanib).'

Chapter: Trimming the Mustaches and Lengthening the Beards

• Ahmad was asked about taking from the beard? He said: 'Ibn 'Umar used to take from it whatever exceeded a handful,' and it was as if he inclined toward that view. It was said to him: 'But lengthening is narrated from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)?' He said: 'This [action of Ibn 'Umar] was, in his view, considered lengthening.'

402 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: Hushaym narrated to us, from 'Umar ibn Abi Salamah, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'Trim the mustaches and lengthen the beards.'

403 - Sa'id narrated to us, saying: Abu Ma'shar narrated to us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) commanded us to trim the mustaches and lengthen the beards.
