428 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: Mahdi ibn Maymun narrated to us, saying: I entered upon Muhammad ibn Sirin on a Friday afternoon, and I saw him clipping his fingernails and collecting them. Mahdi said: Hisham claimed that he [Ibn Sirin] used to order that they be buried.

429 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash said: Tha'labah ibn Muslim informed me, from Abu Ka'b—the freedman of Ibn 'Abbas—from Ibn 'Abbas, from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), that Gabriel was delayed in coming to him, and this was mentioned to him [the Prophet]. He said: "How [would he come] when you are around me, yet you do not brush your teeth, nor do you clip your fingernails, nor do you trim your mustaches, nor do you clean your knuckles?"

430 - Al-Walid said: Abu 'Amr was asked regarding shaving the pubic area (istihdad), and he said: "For men, every twenty nights is good, and for women, every fifteen nights."

431 - Al-Walid said: Ibn Abi Rawwad said: Nafi' informed me, from Ibn 'Umar, that he used to shave his pubic area every month.

432 - Al-Walid said: Ja'far ibn Sulayman al-Basri informed me, from Abu 'Imran al-Jawni, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: "Every forty [days]."
