Translation · EN

433 - Bishr ibn Hilal narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Abu 'Imran al-Jawni, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: "A time limit was set for us regarding the trimming of the mustache, the clipping of fingernails, the plucking of underarm hair, and the shaving of the pubic area, that we should not leave [them for] more than forty nights."

434 - 'Amr narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid narrated to us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Abi Rawwad, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that he used to clip his fingernails every fifteen [days] and shave his pubic area every month.

435 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, who said: "They used to consider it desirable for a man to shave his pubic area every twenty [days], and for women every fifteen days."

Chapter: A Woman Removes Her Clothes Outside Her Home

• I asked Ishaq, and said: If a woman stays overnight at the house of her mother or her sister, may she remove her clothing? He said: "That is disliked, except in her husband's home."

• Ishaq was asked about a man looking at the hair of his female relative by marriage (khatanah)? He said: "He should not deliberately do so."

436 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, who said: "He shall not look."

437 - Bishr ibn Mu'adh narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, who said: I asked him about a man looking at the hair of his female relative by marriage? He recited this verse: {And not display their adornment except to their husbands...}, and he recited it until the end of the verse, then said: "I do not consider her to be among them [those to whom the adornment may be displayed]."
