458 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: 'Abbad ibn 'Abbad and Abu Shihab narrated to us, from 'Asim al-Ahwal, from Abu 'Uthman, that Bilal (may God be pleased with him) said to the Messenger of God (peace be upon him): "Do not precede me with Amin."

459 - Bishr ibn Hilal narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Thabit al-Bunani narrated to us, from Abu Rafi', who said: Abu Hurayrah was the mu'adhdhin for Marwan ibn al-Hakam, so he stipulated to him: "Do not precede me with '{not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray}' (al-Fatiha: 7)."

Chapter: Rising for prayer when the mu'adhdhin says: "The prayer has been established (qad qamat al-salah)"

• I saw Abu 'Abd Allah Ahmad ibn Hanbal rise for prayer when the mu'adhdhin said: "The prayer has been established"; the first time.

• I heard Ishaq say: "If the Imam is in the mosque and the mu'adhdhin begins the iqamah, the people should stand when he says: 'The prayer has been established,' and they should straighten the rows to the right and left until the row is as straight as an arrow (qadh), then he (the Imam) steps forward and pronounces the takbir for prayer after the mu'adhdhin has finished. It is not for any of the Imams to pronounce the takbir before the mu'adhdhin finishes the entire iqamah; this is what the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) established as a sunnah, and after him, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) followed it."

460 - Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr narrated to us, saying: al-Hajjaj ibn Farrukh al-Tamimi narrated to us, saying: al-'Awwam ibn Hawshab narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Awfa (may God be pleased with him), who said: When Bilal said: "The prayer has been established," the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) would rise and pronounce the takbir."
