466 - al-Walid said: And Ibn Jabir informed me, from al-Zuhri, who said: "The mu'adhdhin would not say: 'The prayer has been established,' until the rows were straightened."

467 - Muhammad ibn Adam narrated to us, saying: Makhlad narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, who said: "'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz would stand for prayer when the mu'adhdhin began the iqamah."

468 - Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us, saying: 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, that he disliked standing before the mu'adhdhin said: "The prayer has been established."

Chapter: On the traveler who calls the adhan in a direction other than the qiblah

• Ahmad was asked: What do you say regarding a traveler who calls the adhan in a direction other than the qiblah? He said: "It is more beloved to me that he calls the adhan while facing the qiblah, but I hope that it suffices if done in a direction other than the qiblah. If he says: 'I bear witness that there is no god but God,' he should face the qiblah, then proceed with his adhan in a direction other than the qiblah, until, when he concludes with: 'There is no god but God,' he should face the qiblah."
